"Growing Old"

Age is just a figure, just another part of speech;

It is a certain level that many never reach.

With age there is wisdom that's one thing we don't share, 

For that is when we show our age, a knowledge few can bare.

It is that stage of life when body parts falter;

It is that time of life when many things are altered.

One snip here, a tuck there,

Everything is back in place, no one is aware.

The summer gives in to winter; 

The mountains are snow capped.

The hills are now valleys;

The rivers are all dried out.

We start to make excuses and try to be so young;

We think we have the bodies, we try to have the fun.

The sun goes down much sooner.

The moon comes up last;

Age is just a number, but, years add up fast.
